Two Queens E-Newsletter #5 Oct 2007
Member Profile - Pat Law
Her self-deprecating humour affirms the writer’s confidence to introduce this month’s Twoqueens’ Member Profile Highlight in this particular manner.

This month features a highly opinionated individual, whose commanding aura seldom allows one’s gaze to move away from her easily. This sane schizo expresses her thoughts and emotions through writing, painting and, S.E.X., and finds herself coping with several identities in one lifetime.

Fact File

Name: Pat Law
Age: Old enough to be liable for criminal
Profession: Depressed Artist, Shrewd Advertising Manager, Unintentional Comedian and Dutiful Wife to one. Horoscope: Extremely anal Virgo.
Hobbies: Blogging (sadly), Painting (gratefully), Sex (hungrily)
Life Motto: Omnia mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis. (all things change, we change with them)

TQP: Fill in the blanks. As gay as _______?

Pat: As gay as I can be, without causing the death of my mother. I draw a line at discussing lesbian sex with my ever-so-curious mother. Some things are not meant to be known.

TQP: I wish I had a mother like yours. Do you think Daddies and Mummies made us this way while they were doing the deed or like many homophobics argue, homosexuality is just a phase?

Pat: I won’t discount that for some ‘seasonal homosexuals’, it may be a phase. Likewise, I won’t discount the probability that one day, same-sex marriages will be allowed in Singapore. The big man himself has already classified homosexuality as ‘genetic variation’, we must believe in him like we already do in integrated resorts.

TQP: We checked out your website and find your expression of art really creative. Would you say most gay people are creative or creative people tend to be gay?

Pat: Hypothetically speaking, creativity stems from the expression of individualism. I do think we have our fair share of creative gay people, but I don’t see how just because one person’s gay mean he or she is creative. Like homosexuality, creativity is inert. You must be born with it, it cannot be cultivated.

TQP: Since writing is one of the favourite things to do, narrate to the readers, your coming out story.

Pat: Which coming out story do you want? Wah, so many. Let’s take this one.

“She buried her face in her mother’s arms after her girlfriend of 4 years left her suddenly, and in between her melodramatic sobs, she decided to go for the Oscar moment and utter “MAAAAAA!!! Don’t you get it? I’m gay!”. Her strangely accepting mother now expects her to discuss her lesbian sex life with her”.
