Beatrice Chia-Richmond is best known as the first female Creative Director of Singapore’s National Day Parade (2011), a historic milestone that cemented her status as one of the nation’s most influential creative leaders.
A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Beatrice is widely regarded as a pioneer for women directors and producers in Singapore’s theatre landscape. Known for her bold artistic voice and uncompromising standards, she has built a reputation as one of the industry’s most respected creative powerhouses.
Beatrice’s work has earned numerous prestigious honours, including Best Director at the 2003 Life! Theatre Awards for Shopping and F**king, Best Play for Bent in 2004, and Best Actress for Dead Certain in 2005. She received Singapore’s highest national arts accolade, the Young Artist Award (2006), and was awarded a Capability Development Grant by MDA and ASA to study filmmaking at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her influence was further recognised when she was ranked #1 on The Straits Times Entertainment Power List (2011) and featured on both the Life! Power List and Lianhe Zaobao’s Prominent Personalities of the Year (2012).
