Beatrice Chia-Richmond is honored to be the first female Creative Director of the biggest birthday party in Singapore – National Day Parade 2011.

FLY Entertainment’s very own tour de force and Amazon Queen Beatrice graduated from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She is heralded as a trail blazer for women directors and theatre producers, what with her directorial debut, Shopping and F**king winning her the Best Director title in the 2003 Life Theatre Awards. Proving not to simply be a flash in the pan, she smelled sweet success once more when she walked away with the night’s highest accolade of Best Play of the year for Bent during the 2004 Life Awards. Beatrice’s other directorial plays include Beautiful Thing, Fire Face, Prism (including the traveling run in Japan), East Side Story, Dangerous Liaisons and the highly anticipated “CABARET”, starring Fei Xiang.

Noted as one of Singapore most accomplished and trained actresses around, she was last seen on stage as the female lead in Black Box’s Das Experiment. Beatrice was also in SRT’s Immaculate Misconception, Toy Factory’s Ti Tou Dao and Escape Theatre’s Dead Certain which she was named Best Actress for the 2005 Life! Theatre Awards. She has also completed a stage production with Escape Theatre titled Modern Dance for the Beginners. This award-winning director’s latest project was a collaborative effort with her husband Mark Richmond, for the original musical Sleepless Town.

On the big screen, Beatrice had starred in movie productions such as the female lead in A Sharp Pencil, a Pressure Pictures’ feature, Tai Seng Media’s Lost Time (2001) and Red Trousers: The Life of the Hong Kong Stuntmen (2003) where she played the female lead opposite Robin Shou (Mortal Kombat). She also played Elaine Love in Zhao Wei Films’ Stories About Love and Under Pressure Pictures’ short film, 23:59 Friday Night. Whilst in UK, she was in films like Love Letters; Naomi, Kylie & Me; Sintra and MTV Europe’s Tales From the Character Underground.

A familiar face on local TV, Beatrice has appeared in Love Matters – Flat Out For Love, Ruins of Angkor Wat, Triple Nine, The Donny Lee Show, Art Nation seasons 1-3 for Arts Central, and was also a resident judge on One Moment of Glory. Beatrice hosted the prestigious Singapore Season in London and filmed a reality programme, “MOM-TO-BEA”.

In 2005, Beatrice was awarded a Capability-Development grant by the MDA (Singapore) and the ASA (Association of Singapore Actors) to pursue a certificate in Filmmaking at New York University (Tisch School for the Arts). In 2006, Beatrice was awarded Singapore’s Young Artist Award, the nation’s highest accolade for the arts.

For her verve and contribution to the industry, Beatrice was given the No. 1 spot of The Straits Times Entertainment Power List 2011 and was included in the 2012 Life! Power List and Lianhe Zaobao’s ‘Prominent Personalities of the Year’ 2012 list.

In 2019, Beatrice had the honour of hosting the Official opening of Manulife’s new office.

Beatrice’s last acting roles were in BRA, alongside fellow FLY Artiste Jason Godfrey and Jimmy T and Dead Lucky alongside FLY Artiste Benjamin Kheng and Maxi Lim. Most recently, Beatrice put on her directing hat for Mediacorp commissioned dramas, After Love and Theatre to Screen Adaptation of Micheal Chiang’s Mixed Signals.
