About Ebi

Ebi Shankara is best known for his win at Vasantham Star 2007, propelling him into leading television roles and establishing him as one of Singapore’s most recognisable Indian performers across stage and screen.

Born and raised in Singapore, Ebi began acting in secondary school, winning Gold at the Singapore Youth Festival for his leading performance as Hamlet. He later trained formally at NAFA, graduating with a Diploma in Theatre in 2008 and a First Class BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts (in partnership with East-15 Acting School, University of Essex). During his studies, he also trained with the Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Young Company as an ExxonMobil Scholar and represented Singapore as a dancer at the ASEAN Youth Camp 2006.

A versatile performer, Ebi’s notable accomplishments include leading roles in MediaCorp such as Goal, 100 Wishes, and Gene the Genie, as well as a long-running role as Kenneth Bala in Channel 5’s drama KIN. On stage, he has appeared in over 20 productions including The Full Monty (Pangdemonium), Shades (which represented Singapore at the 1st Bangladesh Arts Festival) and the hit musical Ah Boys to Men, where he became widely remembered as the loveable “Muthu-Curryfishhead.” Beyond acting, Ebi has established himself as a prominent national host, fronting the National Day Parade in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2024 and 2025.

Ebi's strong stage presence, proven screen appeal and confidence across multiple formats make him a powerful and adaptable choice for productions seeking an engaging, dynamic and culturally resonant performer.
